I've been playing with screen casting and found it was a great tool to get the word out. In the following screencast I show you what it's actually like inside a class at the Academy of Quilting. It would be great to hear of other ideas on how you can use screencasts. Leave me a comment or email me your suggestions.

10 years of online teaching

This year, 2011 marks my 10th anniversary of online teaching. I totally love teaching online as I get to meet so many wonderful quilters from all over the world. Man, I just cannot believe how fast 10 years has gone. I discovered Quilt University after talking to a teaching colleague in late 2000. She mentioned teaching online and I was fascinated. I asked her for further details and she put me onto Quilt University which is run by Carol Miller. I contacted Carol and asked her if she would be interested in any of my designs which I had on my website. At roughly the same time I was publishing my first few quilt patterns. Wow that seems so long ago now.

When I first started quilting, I made quilts for all my children. They got quilts for their cribs when they were young. Then as they grew up I made quilts for their beds. As new quilts replaced older ones, the older ones were then handed on to others.

Fabric Book - Phantom of the Opera

I made this fabric book for a dear friend a few years ago after we had been to see "The Phantom of the Opera" together. I have used many embellishments from buttons and beads to paper and clay to re-enact this movie. Fabric books are a fun way to keep memories of trips, celebrations and all sorts of different occasions.

What's the meaning of a dream

I remember hearing somewhere that all dreams had a meaning and since I'd had a particularly unusual dream recently, that remained very vivid in my mind I decided I should find out what the meaning of it was. I began with a google search for "what's the meaning of a dream".
