My 52nd day of quilting designs. Woo Hoo I made it! Today's inspirational photo is of a wire frame design which is a decoration above a door however could also be used as a hanger for a small quilt.

I decided I wasn't going to quilt all the design, just the heart tree cause I thought that looked real cute.

For my first attempt, I started at the bottom and worked my way up the left side, over the top and back down the right side. I found it difficult to get the heart shapes correct coming down as you can see in the photo.

So for the second attempt I did the left side and returned to the bottom of the trunk and worked back up the right side. I could have used a little more curve on those right branches but the hearts were definitely better.

The third attempt seemed much better. You can see how a little practice is needed before beginning. This time I also experimented with a variegated thread to add some extra interest.

I like that heart shape. It could easily be used with stipple or meandering in a continuous design.
