Crazy and sane lonely star quilt by Cindy Thury SmithThe object of this Crazy And Sane online workshop with Cindy Thury Smith is to introduce experienced crazy piecers to some simple sewing techniques to add visual punch to their crazy quilts. Sane quilters frequently use secondary patterns, settings and sashing to highlight their designs and crazy quilters can also use these.

This class is designed for sewers who know how to crazy piece but who may not have tried any piecing requiring matching points, cutting specific shapes and sewing accurate 1/4" seams. You will progress from the simplest techniques to the more complex, including varying the shapes you crazy piece.

Using an on-point design is an acceptable setting for your 9-patch of crazy squares, but it would look pretty plain unless you did something decorative in those corner triangles. One way to perk up the design would be to interrupt those corner triangles with plain or crazy scrap piecing.

Cindy shows you this in the first lesson, and much more in the following lessons. It is amazing what you will achieve by letting your imagination run away with you, and of course, Cindy is there to add input, encourage your ideas and answer any questions you may have.

This class starts on the 24th of July and as a bonus, has a 24% discount. Sign up now and secure your spot.

About Crazy and Sane: In the friendly rivalry between crazy quilters and sane quilters, the two design perspectives rarely meet. Cindy wondered what you would get if you combined the two? This class for adventuresome crazy quilters will show sashing and setting options, plus several different non-square shapes to make your crazy pieced quilts stand out from the pack. Six easily-constructed designs with secondary patterns will be presented. Read More...
