My March Stitch Along week 1
It is so much fun getting back into my series of Stitch Along projects. If you missed the rules for March, check back to last week's post: March Stitch Along Week 1 rules
I have plenty of neutral fabrics to select from so this part was very easy. I had initially thought I'd select blacks, greys and white...
but then changed my mind and decided to go with just black and white fabrics. I get a variety of tones by selecting fabrics with different amounts of black - the more black, the darker it becomes.
Since I moved recently my scrap pile is about zero so I cut (free-form rotary) the ends of larger pieces to neatened them thus leaving myself with scrap strips - that works!
For my contrast, I decided to select red. I have two red fabrics I'd like to use - well either one. One is red with black and the other is red with white. I'm not quite sure which to choose yet, but I'm leaning toward the white.
I managed to find a number of threads to work with - some cotton and some shiny rayon. I'm not sure if the dark grey will make it to the sewing machine but I included it anyway, just in case.
So far I have only free-form cut the strips. I may cut those down into squares and triangles - we'll see... and I still need to decide on the red fabric. Which would you choose - the red/black or the red/white? Let me know in the comments section below.
PS: After you have written your choice below, go check out Jennifer Houlden's blog post. She is joining in the fun this month.
