Feather Quilting

Everyone loves feather quilting including me. I don't do it enough! Is it easy? as long as you know how to free-motion quilt, then yes. I have to say it is very difficult if you try to accomplish it with straight quilting.

Today I was playing with feather quilting and I have to admit, I love how the feathers pop when you echo quilt around it. The best thing of all is you don't need that puffy batting. Low-loft cotton batting works just fine. Here is a one-sided feather I quilted and then echoed around several times to make it pop. It's not so easy to see the effect in the photo, so I took a photo on an angle as well so you get a better idea.
