Spring Challenge - part 1
It's been a while since I did a blog challenge so over the next few weeks I've put together a challenge for you and my students in "Getting Started with Quilt Art" for a bit of extra fun. I hope you'll all join in!
Here in the Southern hemisphere, we are still dealing with winter (soon to be spring though) so lets warm things up a little early by collecting warm colored fabrics, threads, and embellishments. Here are a few that I've collected.... and I tried to keep fabric to only scraps, or at least, less than a fat quarter.
You will also need a neutral fabric of some sort.... black, white, grey or brown - something that will make your warm colored things above pop. It can be one piece of fabric or several joined together. You'll want to work on a 10 or 12-inch square or a page size rectangle. Prepare this ready for the next step.
So with your neutral background, start deciding how you might incorporate your warm colors. You might want to applique fabric pieces or simply stitch threads. Come up with a few options. Sketch some plans or snap a photo or two to get your thoughts flowing.
That will get you started this week. Let me know if you have any questions below in the comments as I get started on mine and be sure to check back next week to see what plans I've come up with.
