My July Stitch Along week 4
The last week of July - wow that went fast! I was a little anxious about this week only because I didn't know how these pieces would turn out. At the end of the day, I was having a ball and even made a short video of one finished result. Okay, so I know by the end of this post, you'll want to try these too so here are the links to each set of rules, but really for the instructions you only need the last two. Rules for week 1, week 2, week 3 and week 4.
Pre-release Specials are Back
I am so excited to announce that we are bringing back our Pre-release Specials. We love giving our subscribers the edge on a new release. I actually had this quilt made and displayed on my bed last year, but it has taken me all this time to get it published as a pattern! Here's the word...
Fun With Piecing Entwined Star
Piecing fabrics together is always fun. Following designs and coming up with variations adds to the mix. Some work, some don't, but that is all part of the growing and learning. Anita started redesigning blocks about a dozen years ago, when she joined a BOM at her local quilt shop. She met a couple of quilt designers there and became intrigued with the process. She started designing on graph paper but soon acquired a computer program for quilt design at the instigation of her computer guru husband.

My July Stitch Along week 3
I have to say I have really enjoyed today's stitch along. It was a great time to do some free-motion warm up. Now I'm thinking I could use all my sample warmup pieces to create something like this! Good idea. If you missed this week's rule, check them out here: July rules for week three
Challenge Rules for Stitch Along W3
Do the weeks go fast or is it just me? I think they fly by as it always seems like I just finished my last week's challenge and another week is upon us. Definitely goes too fast. I'm sure I missed a day or two somewhere! If you missed the rules for the first two weeks, you can find them here: Week 1 rules and Week 2 rules
Not so Blue - Bargello Blues
Recently Maxine Buisson made my Bargello Blues design and shared a photo with me. Although it has a dash of blue in it, it is made up of a variety of other colors too and turned our really well. Maxine made the larger version and then added to it to make a full sized king quilt.
My July Stitch Along week 2
This week for stitch along we are sharing templates so I decided to draw up a couple, instead of just one (here is a link to the official rules). I use a program called Art Explosion which is a vector-based program that draws very well and especially great for templates like what I'm drawing today. I also like using Inkscape which is a free vector-based program.
Still Life in Textile
Have you ever thought to make a still life in textile? I have a lot of fun turning fabric into quilt art so I made a quilting class to teach others and they come up with some amazing results. In the last session, Janet made this beautiful piece using a coffee cup and some fruit.
