Margaret's Fabric Portrait
I just had to share this awesome quilt with you all. It's so real you could almost reach out and touch Margaret's grandchildren. Margaret Watson (GA) just finished making this quilt after enrolling in Marilyn Belford's class Realistic Fabric Portraits. They sure are realistic!
My September Stitch Along W4
This week I needed to add two different forms of quilting and finish my Stitch Along challenge piece by binding it in some fashion. Check back to the rules for week 4 if you need to for full details.
Challenge Rules for Stitch Along September W4
This week it is all about finishing off your stitch along project for September so we will be adding some quilting and then binding off the project. What do you think? Wouldn't these make fun place mats for Spring? I'm just thinking I could use a different colored dragonfly on each or maybe use the butterfly and fern - two place mats for each design. Sounds like a plan, but do note, if I do end up doing that, they won't be completed by the end of this challenge <grin>.
Fun Innovative Applique
Rose Hughes has her Fast-Piece applique class, "Shaping Up With Fast-Piece Applique" beginning this weekend. This class is a fresh and innovative way of learning fast and fun applique. Rose took a moment to share some thoughts with us all.
Baltimore Quilts

A discussion about applique quilts would not be complete without mentioning the artistry and beauty of the classic Baltimore Album Quilts that were made in Baltimore (and all along the eastern coast of the US) during the mid-to-late 1800's.
My September Stitch Along W3
This weekend it was time to add some applique. If you missed the rules, check back here: Stitch Along week 3 rules. Can you guess which element I used? I liked all three but decided to go with the dragonfly so that's what I did.

Susan's Samplers, Settings and Scraps
With today's economy and the price of fabrics, we have to make the most of our fabrics and use them wisely. I don't know about you, but I don't throw away the smallest of scraps. The question is, how does one use these small pieces effectively. I do believe Susan Brittingham has the answer.
The Vineyard - quilt pattern
Finally today I launched my new quilt pattern. It has been waiting to happen for a while but I was somewhat putting it off. My creation, "The Vineyard", a serene and quiet setting where the sun nourishes the grape to produce the most wonderful wine. Ahhhh yes, wine. I'm sipping quietly on a red wine as I type.
