Stitch Along May Week 1 rules
A new month, a new challenge. I hope you'll be joining in this time. These challenges are pretty well open for doing what you want. Thinking outside the box is definitely the way to go. The rules are just a guide to get you creating. So let's get started...
A Color Wash with Sunflowers
Some quilters like color wash quilts while others prefer applique. I designed a number of quilts that incorporate both these. One is my most popular design "Simply Sunflowers" (available as pattern) which I also present as an online class at the Academyofquilting.com .... and we know every quilt has to have its own unique name right? So for my online workshop edition, I named it "Sunflowers at Dawn".
Fast-Piece Applique Exhibits & Demos
Life here in Paducah Kentucky (Quilt City USA) is settling back to normal today after a wonderful crazy week of quilts, quilts, quilts. Quilt week here brings an additional 30, 000 visitors to town, and all are in search of quilts and a good time. For myself it was a week filled with having my own work on exhibit, giving demos, signing books, making new friends and spending some time with old quilt buds.
Why should one work in a series?
Elizabeth Barton's online workshop "Working in Series" is starting this week, Friday May 1st and she shares with us why one should work in a series.
My April Stitch Along week 4
To finish up this week I needed to change the shape of my project, but first I needed to trim it square. My thought was to make a hexagon so to get it close to accurate, I trimmed the background to 10.5" square, then I marked the sides into thirds. 3.5" worked perfectly with the 10.5".
Stitch Along April rules part 4
This is the last week for our April Stitch along. For our last week we usually finish off our piece, but let's make it a little different this time. Instead of making a square or rectangular shape, change it out to something a little different.
A Barn Owl for Ozark Garden
Hi, folks! Well, this has been a wild week. I'm staying with relatives while I recuperate from elbow surgery. I had no idea just how much not being able to use one "wing" could complicate simple daily tasks!
The Next Step in Electric Quilt 7
Have you spent dollars on Electric Quilt program and don't really know how to use it or feel overwhelmed with all its features and don't know where to start? Shirley has written a second workshop, a follow on from her beginner's workshop to help you explore this program and become a confident user. This is what she has to say...
My April Stitch Along week 3
For this week's stitch along I had another two choices to make. First, either abstract or object and secondly, light or dark. I was going to use abstract but Marilyn challenged me to do object so that's what I decided to do with a light fabric. I selected an off-white color and thought butterflies would look rather nice so I set about making them.
Stitch Along April rules part 3
This week I'm keeping the rules real simple, in fact, that has been the case all month. I can't promise the same for next month as I have an interesting idea brewing!
