May Stitch Along Rules Week 1
Let's get back to our regular stitch along challenges - yes I'm a little late at posting, but hey there's no hurry. The main thing is we enjoy the creativity. So for our May stitch along, let's focus on a nature, a flower in fact. Some while ago I was out walking and captured this photo of a beautiful hibiscus flower which is what I'm going to use. Of course, if you have your own flower, then use that otherwise you are welcome to use mine for this month's challenge.
Meet Hamish
April is Autism Awareness Month
Hamish is a young man who is autistic, but he is wonderful to know and as you may know, autistic children have amazing talents. One of Hamish's talents is the ability to draw and he does a pretty good job of it too. My company Arbee Designs, decided to display this talent by developing his drawings into quilt blocks and we are giving back to him $2.00 for every block purchased.
April Stitch Along week 4
This is our fourth block for April, designed by my autistic son for Autism Awareness month. If you have been following along, you know that I've turned his drawings into quilt blocks and he is collecting money from each block sold. I'd like him to save up for a class to further his drawing skills, but he insists he wants to save up for a new computer game. Well, it is his to do as he wishes and the main thing is, he is earning it for himself, which is a wonderful accomplishment on its own.
A snippet inside Working in Series
It is important to be aware of the guidelines for strong compositions. One of the many beauties of a series is that your awareness of these is repeatedly outlined, emphasized, exercised and practiced as you evaluate each piece. My goal is that you finish the course with a series outlined, several designs planned, and one or more cut and pinned.
April Stitch Along week 3
If you read my earlier post about this month's challenge, you will know that I am making quilt blocks that my son designed for Autism Awareness month - April. To date, I have made two; the Crab and the Walrus blocks. This week I made a parrot. I used bright colorful fabrics!
Computer Designing for Quilters
It is such a good feeling to have another class completed - it's been a number of years! I've been working diligently this year to get my latest completed with lots of writing, rewriting, creating and editing images, and making over 30 videos. I believe I counted 35 in total!
The Walrus quilt block
If you read my last week's post, you will know that April is Autism Awareness month so I am turning my son's drawings into quilt blocks. I have to say, they make really cute blocks and fun to make too. I'm making one each week for this month of April, but I may go on to make more as I am thinking these blocks will turn into a great baby quilt and four just won't be enough.
When you cannot find that perfect fabric
How come that I have a huge stash but still cannot find that perfect fabric? I have this happen to me so many times so I'm sure it has to happen to you too. Well, maybe I need to turn to my own skills and learn how to paint that perfect fabric when I need it....
Fabrics Scraps to Landscape
We are so pleased to welcome a new teacher at the Academy of Quilting! Marilyn Lee's love for fine art motivates her to manipulate fabric and thread to create her own masterpieces inspired by the nature around her and in life in general.
April Stitch Along week 1
Did you miss my stitch along challenge rules this week? This month we are going to be doing something very different. You see, it is Autism Awareness month and I thought of a wonderful way to spread the word by showing just how creative autistic people can be. My son is autistic and he has been doing some drawings so I thought I would turn those drawings into quilt blocks and present one each week for the month of April.
