Meet me at the Beach
I absolutely love sharing photos of quilts made by others. The following three quilts are made by Janice Chiaffredo of Gainesville, Georgia after completing Elizabeth Barton's online workshop "Working in Series". This series is called "At the Beach" and they are all finished at 13" X 17".
UFO Roundtable Workshop
It's time to get your UFO’s out of the closet! If you are a student of Marilyn Belford and you have an unfinished class project because you just didn't get time to complete it or became stuck, then now is the time to join Marilyn's newest class "UFO Roundtable with Marilyn Belford".
Workshop in a Book
Over the last 6 months or so I've been working on a new concept which helps quilters take the leap from traditional quilting into quilt art. One of my teacher friends described them as a "workshop in a book" which is a good way to think of it. Basically, it is a challenge project where you do your own thing following certain guidelines and using whatever you have on hand. It's a great way to use up those scraps and odd buttons, beads and charms, as well as get you started in quilt art. I call these e-books, Creative Journals.
I want to make a Christmas Tree Skirt
A number of years ago, I designed a Christmas Tree Skirt for a friend. I designed it in such a way so that I could have a number of different options included. The tree skirt base is made up of blocks and wedges to form a circular design to fit the tree. There are several reasons why I have designed it this way.
Do you have great waves and waterfall photos?
So, over the summer did you go on vacation and take some great waves and waterfalls pictures? Come join Waves & Waterfalls (an online workshop I teach) and make those memories into wallhangings! Learn how to make realistic waterfalls, crashing waves, seafoam and rapids, as well! Come see how you can combine roving, Angelina fiber, bubbled up sheer fabrics, Puff Paint, fabric paint, and painted melted cellophane to really bring those photos to life! Here are my two most recent waves and waterfalls quilts -
Creating Advanced Bargellos
One of the very first quilts I designed back in the early 1990's was a Bargello quilt. I had never made a Bargello quilt before but I did have this vision of one in my mind so I put it together and named it Bargello Blues. I sold the original and then many years later made a new quilt as I wrote my online workshop. This class still proves to be popular for those who are interesting in learning how to create their own Bargello designs or simply how to learn advanced Bargello piecing skills.
Where in the world is Ruth?
I'm sure you have all been wondering where on earth I disappear to with so few blog posts written in the last couple of weeks. I've been doing a spot of traveling in between moving. After tidying up some business in Anaheim, I took a road trip up to Lincoln, CA with my good friend Sue. Although there wasn't a lot to look at along the ride in the 107 F degree heat (41.66 C), there were definite highlights. I found the windmills on the hills fascinating to look at.
