A Little More Like Home
My new abode is finally starting to look a little more like home! Most things have a place and I've been busy hanging up some quilts. I have more space to hang quilts in my new home than my last place so that's a bonus.
October Stitch Along Week 4 - three binding methods
Week four of our October Challenge is all about finishing off, but let's try using a binding or method of finishing off that you don't normally use. Sometimes it is fun to step outside the box and give something new a try especially if we have been doing the same for years. It so happens that I have used three different bindings this week that are not my regular kind so thought it would be cool to share these here.
My October Stitch Along Week 3
Stitching is always my favorite part and usually I tend to use free-motion to attach applique pieces but this time, I decided to fall back on the old familiar blanket stitching. I haven't done this in a long time, but I figured seeing as these blocks were going to be "baby" handled, they need to have very secure edges. Because of this, I decided the original variegated threads I'd selected were probably not ideal. I found some others to match the fabrics. I love these bright colors!
Memorabilia quilt
This small wall hanging is my current work in progress. It is a small memory quilt, a collection of items that I have gathered over a number of years.
October Stitch Along Week 3
These weeks certainly come around quickly! Did you manage to connect the selection you collected in week 1 with someone you were thinking about in week 2? I think the alphabet quilt certainly helped me. In fact, I had so much fun putting it together that I decided to make a second block. I'll tell you about it below, but first what's in store for this week?
My October Stitch Along Week 2
A friend of mine is expecting so that is who I'm focusing this challenge on. Last week I mentioned letters from the ABC's pattern so I'm going to connect both of those ideas to come up with one block.
October Stitch Along Week 2
Did you gather some baby theme fabric? Do you have some ideas to work with? I hope so.
My October Stitch Along Week 1
I don't know about you, but I love making things for babies or inspired by babies so this challenge is bound to be fun, although I'm starting off a little tough because I don't have a lot of 'baby' inspired fabric to work with. I hunted in my stash and only came up with about four suitable fabrics.
October Stitch Along Week 1
I've been spending a little extra time with my grandbabies now that I'm living closer to them so this month's challenge I decided would be "baby" themed. The idea is to come up with as many ideas as you can that may be associated with "baby".
