Improve Your Modern Quilt
Mod Meets Improv (my online workshop) shows you how to cut and sew a modern quilt top, either in a traditional way with precise measuring or in a much more relaxed improvisational way. I give you lots of ideas for designs...and show you how to make more for yourself.
Developing Applique Techniques for more than 37 years
This year my goal is to do more quilting... a lot more quilting. As always, I have lots of quilt ideas floating around in my head, most of them involve applique... and I know I need to get them out. I've already made a start by creating my new Morning Glory block. Originally designed for my BOM Spring Life program, I rearranged it to create a whole new design and of course, I now have this available on my website: Morning Glory design.
The Six Hour Quilt
It is always wonderful starting a new workshop with Elizabeth Barton and for 2018 she has a new one published, The Six Hour Quilt. A little different than her previous workshops, but just as much fun. This is a good basic class but also fun for students of any level!
My Grandma's Scraps
When I was a very young child (6-7) my Grandma who was born in 1910 took me up very narrow stairs to a little loft that was part of her very small little house. The loft was closed off in the winter (reminds me of my Billy Creek house) because it just was so cold up there that any water in a bucket would freeze.
Understanding Various Aspects in Perspective
Various aspects of perspective can be used in art quilts. Understanding them can add depth and dimension to your quilts whether they are abstract or realistic. Knowledge of perspective can allow a designer to bend it to her will creating new ways of looking at ordinary objects or increasing a sense of realism in a landscape or an architectural scene.
Many People Don't Understand Abstract Art, do you?
So many people have told me that they don't understand abstract art.
