Batik. What is it? It is a process of adding wax to cloth and then dyeing over it. The wax is resistant to the dye thus after it is removed leaves the design on the cloth. Batiks are some of my very favorite fabrics. Marjorie McWilliam's class "Batik" is new at the academyofquilting.com. I cannot wait to see what you make. Here's a quote from her class.

About Batik online workshop: This course will teach you the traditional (and a few not so traditional) methods of the ancient art of batik. We will not be using soy wax but paraffin, bees wax, or a combination of the two along with Procion MX dyes. These five lessons are a combination of two batiking courses Marjorie taught at Quilt University.
