Machine Embroidery - Beyond The Basics
Joanne Winn shares some insights of her class Beyond Basic Digitizing. This is a theory class on editing and perfecting your embroidery machine digitizing and one of six Joanne teaches at the Academy of Quilting.
Here she shares some useful tips that all embroiderer's should know:
After you have saved your design always do a test stitch out before stitching a design. This lets you see if:
- there are any jump stitches
- you like the colors you have chosen
- you like the Fills in the objects, and outlines and colors
- the overall design pleases you
Quilt Blocks: This design is one you manually digitize in class.
This is a striking design when you use the wreath tool to make a large quilt block. The Wreath tool is located on the bottom left of the program screen in the Arrange menu bar. This tool allows you to duplicate a design in the shape of a wreath with an option to use the attached Kaleidoscope tool. Both will give you up to 50 repeats. It is so much fun to play with. Quite often you get a real surprise while playing. Beginners and as well as advanced students will find this very easy to use.
I can picture a wonderful quilting or scroll type design in the center. Try several different combinations using the Wreath Tool.
