Autumn Colors Are Fun to Work With
So here is a preview of the quilt I've been working over the weekend. It is almost complete with only some quilting to finish off and if it had not been for the interruption, I would have finished it! It has taken me just 2.5 days to complete so a perfect weekend project.
The applique was really fast because you don't need to be totally exact when it comes to cutting out the leaves. Remember all leaves are different so it doesn't matter if we go a little crooked - it makes for a much more interesting piece, don't you think? .....and my quilt-as-you-go method of applique and mitered borders come together quickly and accurately ....so if you were wondering, yes - this will be a new pattern.
The pattern includes applique tips and extra leaf templates from those you see in the photos, with extra ideas and suggestions for quilting, not to mention lots of tips as well! A couple of other features of this quilt is that you can easily adjust the size to suit your needs by adding more leaves and creating a larger wreath or using it as a centerpiece for a beautiful bed quilt .....and other than the background and border, all the rest is made up from scraps.
So if you'd like to use up some of your scraps start pulling out your fall fabrics. You can download the pattern here.
