Do you want a free gingerbread house applique pattern? Read on about this cute Christmas pattern that would be great to give as a gift or to hang on your wall this Christmas.
Jennifer Houlden made an adorable Christmas quilt using Northcote fabrics. It is made up of pieced blocks and printed strips. The blocks include candy sticks, stockings, Christmas trees, star and checkerboard blocks. This pattern is now avaliable as a download on our website class Peppermint Candy.
You can use any Christmas fabrics to make this and the blocks are a lot of fun to piece. I pulled some possible fabrics from my stack that could work well for this. I'm sure you have suitable fabrics too.
The gingerbread house print gave me an idea for a block which could be used instead of the the printed fabric.
This is easy to make and each section only uses small scraps of fabric. I made my gingerbread house using the following fabrics. The white has a silver glitter in it which really makes it look snowy.
In fact, this was so much fun I decided to add it to Jennifer's pattern so if you cannot get the Northcote fabric, you could still have gingerbread houses.
As an alternative, if you are registered in my machine quilting class at the Academy of Quilting, you could use the gingerbread quilting design instead, or you could use this candy design too. You can read more about that in Tuesday's blog.
Let's get quilting!
