Applique Animals

So I was looking at Jennifer's "Zoo Friends" online class and wondering why I haven't made these darling little animals before now. I guess it boils down to me always being too busy designing my own quilts. Well I decided that wasn't quite good enough. Her pattern "Animal Party" has been a huge hit and I know her class is going to be too so I at least need to make some of these little critters.

You can't help smile right back at him

It was more fun than I imagined and quick too. It actually took me longer to decide which fabrics to use than it did to make them!

So cute that I had to make another...

Love those bright colors

And then, I couldn't stop there, I had to add my own little touch. With some bubbles for the fish and a fly for the frog.

I used fabric pens to draw in the facial features, bubbles and fly.

Now that I had these made, I needed a use for them.... so I got thinking. A bib jumped to mind - how cute would that be?

Two baby's bibs

I changed the drawn features into stitched ones to make them stand out better and then....

I showed my creations to Jennifer and she was delighted. So I told her I would give her my basic bib pattern (valued at $4.95) to give to all the students who signed up for her class as long as she promised to help with those little additional stitching elements I added.

Now you can make this delightful quilt and bibs to match - that has to be the most awesome gift you could make for a new born baby .... and they take no time at all.

Oh yeah, I should mention about here, I only made two of the 13 different animals in the class, make one or make them all.
