A Mini - Solo Quilt Show at a Prestigious Museum
It was while browsing through a fabric store that Marilyn Belford stumbled upon art quilting. “It was as if I were struck by lightning,” she explains. “I loved sewing and I loved painting. The art quilt combined the two. That was all I needed. Off I went exploring this new avenue.”
From exquisite realistic portraits to magnificent mythical quilts, Marilyn pursued her career in quilting creating many award-winning quilts and is now honored to have her own solo display in The National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky from Sept 21 - Nov 13, 2018. If you can, I highly recommend you go visit the museum as there is nothing better than seeing Marilyn's work in person. You will find the exhibit in the Corner Gallery.
For those who cannot make it to the museum, Marilyn gave me permission to post a few photos of the exhibition. What a beautiful display!
There will also be a recorded interview later on which will be a wonderful addition to the exhibit. For more details about this be sure to sign up for our newsletter below.
In the meantime, if you would like to learn how Marilyn makes her Mythical quilts, she teaches a wonderful online workshop called Montage Quilting.... a workshop not to be missed!
