This is the fifth week of August and time to finish off my stitch along project. I've had great fun with this. All I had left to do is quilt my project, then bind it or finish it off in some way. First I layered it and choose a red thread to add the red lines I had planned on.project is layered ready for quilting and a red thread choosen for stitching

I used free-motion stitching to add those lines. I considered double stitching them but settled for just the one.red quilting lines have been stitched

Next I decided to quilt down the background. I loaded the machine with white thread to match the white background and outlined each section. I didn't stitch inside the red lines though.background outlined with white quilting

I decided to quilt straight lines in the background areas using free-motion stitching.background is quilted with straight lines

Here's how it looks with the straight lines completed. It makes the black really pop up. I also outlined the inner white circle but didn't add any further quilting to that section.background straight lines are finished and make the black areas pop up

I still felt the round sections needed something so I decided to echo quilt the red lines with more red lines.echo quilted red lines

Here's how it looks finished with the binding on.stitch along for August is finished

  • Thanks Barbara, they are fun to create and present, and I often learn things along the way too, but most of all, it gives me the chance to do something a little creative, outside the box :)

  • WoW. Many good techniques used on this project. Thanks for sharing and teaching. Even when I don't have time to do the challenge, I always learn something new from following along. Thank you.
