Stitch along February rules part 1

Posted by Ruth on 29 January 2015 | 0 Comments

Stitch Along February is about to begin. Already our second challenge for the year. What fun. If you missed the last one, be sure to check out the gallery for January. All the projects turned out different, but that just makes it much more interesting. I hope you'll be joining in this month.

This month, I took a couple of photos. I figured this might be a little different. Both photos are of a wooden cabinet. I was looking for lines for this particular challenge.

On my tablet, I downloaded an app called Pencil Sketch Collage and I used this to sketch the two photos. Oh yeah, it's a bit of a cheats way, but hey, it is fun playing around with these apps and editors can take away all the hard work!

Now that all the hard work is out of the way, onto this weeks Stitch Along rules....

Rules for February Week 1

Select a light colored fabric. Use a neutral color or a pale color. Actually, the color doesn't matter... you can really select anything, perhaps your favorite color, but do make it a plain, solid or tone on tone - a hand dyed would work great! You'll need an 8" square or larger.

Click on the sketches above for the larger image and then print your choice to work with - you only need one. They both print out about 8" square. Use your printed sketch to transfer the main lines onto your fabric using chalk or removable quilter's pen. You can extend the lines a little if you wish.

You'll also need to gather some threads and yarns of different weights to contrast with the fabric. Have some threads that are close to matching too, or slightly darker.

That's all for this week. Be sure to send in a photo of your sketch on fabric as well as your thread selection.

See you in the Gallery!
