If you read my earlier post about this month's challenge, you will know that I am making quilt blocks that my son designed for Autism Awareness month - April. To date, I have made two; the Crab and the Walrus blocks. This week I made a parrot. I used bright colorful fabrics!

I did add a few more stitching lines to this design to enhance the feathers - of course, that is optional in the pattern.

One thing I will add, and that is, my son doesn't just draw these creatures with pencil, but I have taught him to scan his drawings into the computer and then draw it using Inkscape, so he even draws the templates for the pattern. Pretty cool ah?

This whole process and some prompting from others, lead me to write my next online workshop. I figured if he can learn it, then so can quilters, so my "Free Software for Quilters" online course was developed and debuts May 20th. That's pretty exciting stuff!
