My December Stitch Along Week 4

Posted by Ruth on 22 December 2013 | 0 Comments

It's a little hard predicting what I'll be doing next year. I had to rattle my brain about with thoughts. I had thought of going back to school, but was not sure how I would juggle that with all the changes happening at the Academy so for my tab I settled on something that I most definitely want to do and that is make another mystery workshop.

I gathered a few things I thought might be useful, some fabric, embrellishments and cord. Of course, I needed fusible web and batting too which are not included in the photo below.

Bits and Pieces I gathered

I made the background by sandwiching a piece of batting between two layers of the gold fabric. I also made a fused question mark to represent my mystery.

Base of tab and fused applique

I pressed the black question mark over top of the silver leaf I had to hold it in place. It's a bit of a 'mystery' why I added the leaf - it just looked good and I've been anxious to use it somewhere. I double stitched down the question mark so I didn't need to add stitching to the left. It's not going anywhere!

I added a black cord around the edge to finish it off. This I zigzagged in place. Of course, my mystery class will involve some calculations and cutting of fabric, hence the calculator and scissors were added.

Corded sides and embellishments added

I left long tails on the cord so I can attach it later on and to finish off, I added beads to the ends of the tails, just for some added decoration and a bit of a 'twist' to the mystery.

My finished tab for week 4

I wonder what my mystery will be, even I can't answer that one yet.
