My September Challenge Week 5

Posted by Ruth on 29 September 2013 | 0 Comments

Today is the last Sunday in September and time for me to finish up my challenge piece. Before I stitch on the flowers and leaves, I want to add the binding as they will only get in the way.

I used a straight binding for my project rather than the usual mitered corner continuous binding. I like this just as well.

Once I added the binding, I positioned the flowers and leaves and secured them with pins. I stitched only along the center vein of the leaf to attach it, and not the full length, but about two thirds the distance. For the flowers I used a gold thread and made a spirl in the center of the flower.

I'll leave the petals to hang free.

Now all I need to do is hand stitch the binding in place, add hangers and a label. I'm going to call this piece "Peeping Out".
