If you missed reading about Emma's challenge, you can do so on the previous page.
It's time for the first week of the challenge. If you missed the rules for our March Challenge you can find them here: Rules for this challenge.
It's definitely time for another blog challenge but this blog challenge is going to be a little different because my daughter Emma decided she wanted to challenge me rather than have me challenge everyone... so for this challenge, Emma will be setting the rules and creating her own piece while I create a piece of my own.
This week I wanted to finish off my challenge piece. It's not much use if it is left sitting around unfinished so this week I'm making sure that doesn't happen. I've been thinking about what method to use. Although I have loved creating it, using the different elements (words) to work and especially working with the silk, I'm not sure the overall design is something I would hang on my wall. Knowing this, I've decided to look at different sections of it to perhaps chop up for a series of mini displays.
My last word and last week of August for this challenge! The word I have yet to use is 'vertical'.
This week I plan to use 'shiny' as my word but I didn't really finish with my shadows from last week so now that I've had a bit more time to think about them, I've decided I might paint the shadows. I tried my Salvia Sticks but found they were not giving me the effect I wanted - I tested first!
This week I'm going to try to use 'shadow' as my word. What will you use? If you are yet to get started, go back to week 1 to find out what it is all about. Here's a link back to it: Part 1. I found another piece of silk that I thought I could include in my design. I'm making this up as I go so like me, feel free to dip back into your stash again. The initial fabric selection is basically just a place to get started. You don't have to use them all and you can add more as you work along.
Here we are back at the challenge. If you missed last week, here is a link back to it: Part 1. My goal is to incorporate one word into my design each week. Last week I used the word 'Liquid' by selecting a blue silk fabric that could easily appear as water. You should have at least gathered some fabric. Start thinking about a background. Perhaps you can strip piece it to create 'vertical' lines!
Today I'm going to "dare" you to join my August blog challenge. I hope you will as it will be fun. I've done a number of these in the past and have always created something new - sometimes even inspired me to create a new pattern!
Stitch Along Sunday is back for the third week. Did you miss week 1 or week 2? Remember this is an example of how Stitch Along Sunday will work. In coming Stitch Alongs I'll be posting the challenge words or activities earlier in the week so we can all sew together on Sundays or at least share some photos then.
